The Allandale House is not your typical a-frame. This modern vacation house by William O’Brien is actually three a-frames in one, carefully merged to create one flowing and continuous space.
The living room is spectacular – the ceiling reaches to dizzying heights, creating a sense of extreme proportion that humbles the simple white interior. A single pendant hangs above the wooden dining set like a pendulum on an impossibly thin wire. A bookcase carved from the wall acts as a counterbalance to the steep expanse of white on the opposite side of the room.
An impenetrable fortress on the outside, weightless white design on the inside; these two extremes have never complemented each other so nicely. The only problem would be gathering the will to leave once the vacation is over.
That gigantic glass window certainly looks like a relaxing place to soak in the surroundings – the Allandale House is definitely the perfect weekend retreat.
