Is it possible for something to be “creepily cute”? If so, these whimsical Crocheted Skulls are doing a fantastic job at fitting the bill.

These little Halloween skulls come in sets of ten, perfect for casual groupings and decorative arrangements. DeweyDecimalCrafts over at Etsy tightly crochets each one-of-a-king piece so that it holds form – which is important, because guests will not be able to resist touching and playing with these fun little skulls (as it turns out, each skull just so happens to fit perfectly on the tip of a finger!)

Best of all, these Crocheted Skulls are not limited to just Halloween-inspired home decorating ideas – they make great gifts and would look adorable on a nightstand or stacked around a vase of old flowers.

Made from soft white cotton and spectacularly crafted into structurally sturdy forms, DeweyDecimalCraft’s Tiny Crocheted Skulls are a great example of how ordinary materials can show a delightfully surprising side at the hands of a talented artist.

“Are you really sure that a floor can’t also be a ceiling?” by design duo Bik Van Der Pol looks familiar for a reason – the architecture of this powerful exhibit is based on the iconic 1951 Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe, a standing masterpiece of minimalist white design.

The form of the exhibit may resemble the Farnsworth House in many ways, the function of each piece is markedly different. While Mies’ work is an example of human life connected with and encompassed by nature, Bik Van Der Pol’s design shows nature encompassed by and reliant on man. Instead of furniture, the miniature home is filled with live plants and hundreds of colorful butterflies – creatures known to be the first species to show signs of strain when an ecosystem undergoes negative changes.

Although “Are you really sure that a floor can’t also be a ceiling?” was on display at the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art only temporarily, those who were lucky enough to take a walk through the delicate micro-climate of the encaged butterflies will never forget the fragility of our irreplaceable environment.

This frame hanger is an absolutely gorgeous example of fusing art with utility. Despite looking like an intense contemporary decorative piece, these beautiful veneered plywood silhouettes function as a modern storage solution.

This piece comes in two designs: chandelier and tree. Both designs are painted white on one side, and black or green on the other. As soon as you become bored with the way it looks simply flip it over and begin again! This way it can be transferred from room to room in the house, displayed as large wall art either hung or loose- the transformability of this wooden coat hanger makes it a unique design that will never lose its novelty.

As items are hung and removed the Frame White Hanger will evolve at the pace you do.

This paper star urchin ornament has everything the modern Christmas tree needs: variety, bold style, and a little bit of Polish attitude! All this and more is contained in the 80 hand-formed white matte cones, each one giving this paper ornament a fragile look despite it’s sturdy heavyweight construction.

Besides the perfect use as a decorative Christmas tree ornament, this piece would work great at a contemporary wedding or grouped together in the home. This simple star ornament expresses its creative inspiration through a distinct form which brings to mind anything from dandelion puffs to exploding fireworks.

This is just the most interesting project by Jean-Pascal Flavien. He created a house that purposely creates problems for it’s inhabitants! The experiment is creatively titled the No Drama House.

The white house emerges by way of it’s layout as a series of successive problems. The problems interfere with the possibility of living comfortably and of things running smooth. The house is designed in an awkward fashion where you have to enter it by positioning a ladder and climbing through a small back opening. The narrow construction and distant location of the power outlets constantly makes you problem solve and figure things out. The original white art models offer several other architectural possibilities.

It’s a very thought provoking and interesting concept but I wouldn’t personally volunteer to live in the No Drama House! What’s your take on the concept?

Was getting my Etsy fix when I found this lovely little white porcelain flower sculpture called Grace. The detailing is soft and just right!

Designer and creator Elizabeth Prince designed the little white flower using the delicate ‘pinch pot’ clay technique which allows the petals to become super thin. This unique method makes her porcelain petals closely resemble the real thing. When put against the sun, the detailing of the flower wall art almost becomes translucent – the effect is stunning! I have to agree with Elizabeth, a grouping of these little darlings would create the most wonderful effect.

Order your hand made white flowers from the PrinceDesignUK Etsy Shop.

We were fortunate to stumble on this very talented and gifted artist on Twitter. Julie works almost exclusively with white, creating works that truly inspire and challenge the mind.

From her bio – “Julie Levesque has been building a body of work that is primarily concerned with motion and the fluid transformation of energy into inanimate objects. The imprint of this emotion distorts their shapes creating a narrative of the essence of the people who have had contact with them. Slumped, eroded or enlarged, emotion/energy is made visible in ways that never physically show in the body but reside there nonetheless. Working almost exclusively in white, she creates tension and contradiction by draining the color out of these energized objects.”

We spent some time browsing her online portfolio and were intrigued & invigorated by her wonderful sculptural work.
