Torafu Architects really rocked this renovation. The House in Megurohoncho started as a relatively plain residence with a very traditional Japanese style but after the remodeling job, this house is beautiful inspiration for modern interior design.
Simple furnishings and the cleanest of lines create an incredibly minimalist white interior without losing any of the warmth. This modern Japanese home is all about form and function.
The removal of walls during renovation helped to brighten the third floor living space and make it larger. The use of open backed chairs and spare railings continues this effect ensuring a clear line of sight across the entire room.
The most innovative part of the home combines structure with art – the stairs cut up through a delightful cubic room divider in the office. The top of the box functions as a landing and the sides are perfect for storage.
The House in Megurohoncho certainly makes a great case for simplicity in interior design.
