The contrast between the indoors and out may be one of the most exciting features of this interesting white home. The exterior is composed of bold geometric volumes, toned down by the dark and seductive zinc paneling.

We love the dedication to white living displayed by the interior design – natural light floods the simple walls, warmed by the generous use of timber. The rich amber wood grains are what helps to cozy the dropped ceilings above the hallways and is also the same material that makes up many of the smart storage solutions scattered between many of the rooms.

Dark, medium, and light tones of flooring, cabinetry, and decorative elements do not overwhelm the sense of white design, but certainly add quite a bit of interest to this amazingly fresh Modern Residence in Melbourne.

The Kurkova NY Residence by Elmslie Osler Architect is a statement in minimal white design, but this inviting space is, aesthetically perfect!

The entrance to this clean white home prominently features a serene bust of the Buddha, a stunning and sensible welcome into the refreshingly simple spaces ahead. Highly unique pieces add an element of surprise, including a 19 foot cowhide storage unit that serves as a wonderful focal point for the public areas of the home. We especially love the playful, damask print bench by Marimekko featured in the dressing room.

The generously portioned private House in Avila may look like a classic a-cero from the outside – but the unique contemporary interior tells a different story – one of culture, history, and reverence for the surrounding Spanish countryside.

Each room incorporates a different element from the environment in which it stands.
A cozy great room with natural wood echoes the nearby tree groves; the walls are split along a horizontal axis: the top half is exposed stone, lined with small mounted deer skulls. The rest of the room is classic white design – smooth ivory walls and a magnificent fireplace. An oversized rough table increases the hunting lodge mood but clean modern furniture keeps it up-to-date. An even larger gathering room takes a different approach, and uses paintings to add floral color to the white living space. Neutral furniture, the constant of this white home, echoes the soft palette of the landscape paintings. Indirect lighting opens the ceilings and softens textures throughout the house, especially in the kitchen, which features clean, sharp surfaces and uses no hanging light fixtures.

Serene and private, the House in Avila seems to be a mixture of the fantastic and the practical – lacking nothing in terms of whimsical subtleties, certainly a far cry from ordinary but still a sensible modern space.

The Ruis-Maasburg Penthouse is a space that could not have been completed under any other circumstances. Spanish architect Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez was given the task to turn this 650 sq.ft. attic into a livable apartment- a rather formidable task. The result turned out to be one of the best examples of white living that we have seen for a while!

Ample white space is accented with rich black details to enhance depth, while the unique curvaceous walls and ceiling use classic theatre techniques of forced perspective to turn this otherwise cramped area into a spacious-looking contemporary interior. Billowing curtains are used judiciously to create divisions of space, even hung over windows to offset their admittedly small size. Although white design is the main focus of the entire space, there are enough soothing shadows to soften any edge.

This white home takes advantage of a large terrace to create a spacious outdoor/indoor living area- complete with a luxurious partially enclosed day bed for dreaming or relaxing. Green plants and potted flowers are used in various rooms to keep this natural connection going.

This White Penthouse may go against every preconceived notion about how a small space should look, but it definitely does not break any rules of great modern design.

This private white house located in Tinos, Greece was designed by Zege architects paying every amount of respect to the surrounding architecture of the area. This stunning white space is the vacation home of its brilliant interior designer, Marilyn Katsaris.

The soft edges and brilliant natural tones create a sense of serenity as you pass easily from one area of this white home to the next. The carefree attitude that white living represents is boldly declared by the lack of hiding places. Minimalistic niches are built into the wall to stow away objects, and beautiful thick shelves hold dishes and ornaments.

This contemporary interior differs from the traditionally modern view of white design. Instead of hard edges and fluorescent brilliance, this home makes the best of soft textures and serene naturally diffused light. Classic comfort and a sense of history are created by rich, traditional ornamentation used only sparingly.

Designed as one of the first projects of the Brooklyn Home Company, every space of this 5th street brownstone is wide, wide open taking advantage of the abundance of natural light. The beams were found during the tear down process and restored to a beautiful condition that accents the richly contrasting woods of the bar stools and coffee table, both crafted for this luminescent white home by sculptor Fitzhugh Karol.

The dining table was a collaborative piece between Lyndsay Caleo and Karol, made from a salvaged beech wood. Fitting with the eggshell white interior, the prominently grained table is surrounded by the ever modern Vitra Panton chair; a classic example of art meets utility. Repetition is created by the numerous shelves and stairs that create horizontal stripes of warmth against a sunny white backdrop. Tasteful sculptures and ceramics adorn spacious surface areas bringing a sense of purpose to every corner.

Nothing has escaped the creative eye of these designers as each room plays a coherent yet distinctive role in utilizing space that shows undeniable personality. This White Townhouse on 5th street combines the most stunning aspects of both brownstone and white modern interior without missing a single detail.

The designers at i29 interior architects have created another beautifully appointed white interior that makes the most of limited space.

The white modern interior includes a pure white kitchen with stainless steel appliances and white walls, floor and cabinetry for a bright, crisp cooking area that’s illuminated by floor to ceiling windows. The kitchen in this white home gives way to an open stairway that leads the eye to a open and airy living room where minimal shelving, also in white, visually pushes back the walls while providing plenty of space for CDs and books. But the focal point in this compact interior is the pinewood wall down the center that cleverly conceals everything from kitchen equipment to clothing. The soft, light pine color is accented by a dark gray band that becomes table, bench and fireplace as it moves horizontally across the pinewood, giving maximum interest without impinging on valuable floor space.

This white home is filled with iconic touches of mid-century modern design, giving white living a classic feel that will stand the test of time. The generous deck features Verner Panton chairs that echo the modern motif carried into the dining room with Eames chairs. The two sets of chairs offer pleasing curves that soften the hard edges of the rooms.

An interior black wall seems to float above the ground thanks to the glow of indirect lighting shining from beneath the wall’s elevated edge. Three black pendant lights over the long dining room table are perfect punctuation marks in the otherwise white space. NORM Architects has succeeded in creating a gorgeous apartment with a layered white design and warm feeling thanks to the generous graduations from white to black throughout.

Turning a 1924 Victorian box home into a free flowing family space while still maintaining privacy for specific rooms was a challenge that Kariouk Associates triumphed over when designing the Echo House. A fabulous white interior space that respects the bones of the original house without sacrificing the owner’s need for more usable space.

They took down walls, opened up the ceiling, and created on open floor plan on the main floor with windows that open to the front and back for clear views and the visual illusion of more space. They constructed an office space and a den on the second level by creating a “vertical loft,” with each of the rooms appearing to float freely above the ground floor. Each room is an independent unit, but partial walls allow you to see to the floor below and give clear access to large windows, flooding each area with natural light. The master bedroom is a distinct cube cantilevered out over the entryway and surrounded by walls of windows.

We love the way the den, office and library spaces resemble building blocks hovering within the framework of the house. The white cubes and walls ensure a light, expansive feel in this deceptively small home.
