The Wide Open Villa by Klab Architects could not have received a more fitting name. The outside structure could almost be termed “monolithic” if it were not for the abundance of substantially sized windows creating a beautiful dialog between the spacious white interior and surrounding Grecian landscape.
The master bedroom floats adjacent to a chic glass-lined catwalk hallway, suspended above an open living room, den, and dining room combo that sprawls across most of the first floor. The focal point of the impressive double-height living room is a stunning modern fireplace, which spatially and visually interacts with the backyard poolside patio. Both this grand room and the more intimate gathering area under the master bedroom are composed of sensibly arranged plush white couches with deep ebony decorative accents. This theme continues in the open dining room, where an array of rich black chairs line an imposing table for twelve.
Our favorite touch is the use of skylights to illuminate small places – light pours into the hallways and basement pool from above. Another brilliant touch is the playful green glass shower partition that offers an unexpected oasis of color worked into surrounding white design of the master bath.
The Wide Open Villa is full of fun surprises like this – further proof that white will remain the ultimate creative canvas.
